PROS: The Bernafon Zerena is the new ‘made for iPhone’ hearing aid from Bernafon. Based on a new dual-radio transmission chip which enables direct to ear streaming, this hearing aid allows for mobile phone calls, TV and music to be streamed directly from the iPhone into the hearing aids.
Given that daily listening involves rapidly changing listening environments, the Zerena hearing aids utilize the DECS – Dynamic Environment Control System to continuously analyse the acoustic environment resulting in seamless adaption to active and fast environmental changes. For musicians and live music fans, the Dynamic Range Extender adapts the input level for signals up to 113 dBSPL, allowing for a more natural live listening experience. Frequency composition transfers high frequency sound components to a lower destination range, making important speech cues audible for individuals with severe to profound high frequency hearing losses.
CONS: Given that it is a ‘made for iPhone’ hearing aid, direct streaming is not possible for Android users presently. Android users are still able to utilize basic controls allowing for discrete adjustment to volume and/or hearing aid programs through your smartphone using the EasyControl-A app.
